Policy Goals
Taiwan geographically is an island with limited natural water resources, particular in the south. As its rainfall is out of proportion all year round and rivers are narrow and short, development and allocation of water resources are inherently extremely difficult.
Moreover, due to high costs and the environmental impact of constructing large-sized reservoirs, it is very difficult to reach consensus among residents. As a result, constructing reservoirs is not our top priority. Faced with this challenge, we have adopted strategies such as effective flexible allotment, strengthening facility improvement and maintenance, coordination of public use water and support, etc. And take economic pattern with management as the means and supply as orientation will become a trend in the future for development of water resources.

1. Base on the concept of sustainable management, strengthening conservation of warter and soil and management and flexibly alloting existing water resources to stably provide water resources of excellent quality and quantity.
2. Promoting water-saving awareness to enhance the efficiency of utilizing water resources.
3. Conserve and create a natural and diverse water environment.
4. Introduce the concept of regulating drainage basin holistically, emphasizing the soft and nature design create green and close to water space, recuperate a diverse water environment, provide the quality places with recreation, and enhance the quality of living in an all-embracing manner for the public.
